EccoFreight, finalist of 2016 III CEPYME Awards

Eccofreight has been selected as finalist for CEPYME awards in two categories: “Best Company of the Year” and “Best entrepreneurial project”.

The awards ceremony will take place on November 29th at 12:00. At the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, the jury of the awards under the honorary presidency of SS.MM. Kings of Spain, will make public the finalists in a gala presided by the President of the Government, Mr. Mariano Rajoy Brey.

The CEPYME awards are today the most prestigious award and represents a great recognition to the success of SMEs business in our country.

From July 1st, shipping lines will be able to deny containers on board that do not have a VGM (Verified Gross Mass). Many details of this regulation have not yet been finalized or confirmed so the implementation is likely to vary between countries, carriers and terminals.

Effective from July 1st, 2016, shipping containers stuffed with cargo can be rejected for shipment at ports if they do not have a VGM (Verified Gross Mass). This is because of a new international regulation from the IMO (International Maritime Organization/).

SOLAS rules about new VGM regulation

VGM Mandate considers, as the keys to its optimal implementation, the correct weight of shipment with calibrated and certified scales, shippers responsibility to provide the correct VGM in advance and the information to all actors in the logistics chain before containers arrive at either terminal.
The SOLAS mandate requires that shippers provide the weight of each container to carriers using one of two methods:

weight the container after it is loaded and sealed.
weight each individual package and cargo item (including packaging and dunnage/ securing materials) and add the Tare weight of the container.
