In 2015, the Sustainable Development Summit was held and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was presented as a strategic document aimed at guiding countries, companies and individuals in their journeys towards contributing to create a more sustainable world.
Following the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development introduced 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These 17 goals refer to different areas that require work in order to ensure the well-being and sustainable development of both the planet and all its inhabitants. The 17 goals address issues such as poverty, education, health, climate, innovation, equality, etc. and are aimed at becoming a reference when taking specific steps towards a more sustainable present and future.

SDG 2 – Zero Hunger
Ensuring access to proper nutrition.
SDG 3 – Good health and well-being
Promoting measures to improve people’s health and well-being.
SDG 4 – Quality education
Guaranteeing the right to access a thorough and high-quality education.
SDG 5 – Gender equality
Promoting gender equality in all aspects and situations to ensure equal opportunities and rights.
SDG 6 – Clean water and sanitation
Guaranteeing the right to access sanitation and clean water to ensure well-being and sanitation.
SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy
Promoting affordable access to energy anywhere in the world, promoting the use of energy coming from non-polluting sources in order to make an efficient use of natural resources.
SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth
Ensuring access to decent working conditions and promoting economic growth in a sustainable manner.
SDG 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Encouraging investment and infrastructure development with regards to transport, irrigation, energy and information technology.
SDG 10 – Reduced inequalities
Keeping the progress in reducing inequality between countries, alleviating poverty and disparity in access to services.
SDG 11 – Sustainable cities and communities
Improving urban planning and management to make urban spaces more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
SDG 12 – Responsible consumption and production
Promoting an efficient use of natural resources in order to promote sustainable development that reduces economic, environmental and social costs.
SDG 13 – Climate action
Taking action to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change.
SDG 14 – Life below water
Properly managing marine protected areas and stopping the deterioration of coastal waters as a result of ocean pollution and acidification.
SDG 15 – Life on land
Protecting forests and biodiversity. Stopping deforestation and desertification.
SDG 16 – Peace, justice and strong institutions
Reducing all forms of violence, promoting law at a national and international level and ensuring the right to access justice.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the goals
Promoting partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society in order to meet the SDGs.
